Weekly letter from St Luke's - 7th February 2025

Dear Parish Friends

This weekend we return to readings from the gospel of Luke describing the start of Jesus' ministry. We hear that in a short time his reputation as a teacher and healer grew and so it was time for him to intentionally share his ministry by calling a group of disciples. The first of these were the fishermen Simon, James and John. Later Luke calls these disciples, apostles (see Luke 6:13). A disciple is one who believes in and follows, and an apostle is one who is sent as a messenger. One follows naturally from the other and apply as much to us as to Simon and his colleagues.

Our services this Sunday are as usual: 7am Holy Communion and 9am Family Communion (with Zoom streaming and Children's Church). The weekly notice paper and 9am service sheet are available from the links below.

Remember that our Annual Meeting is on Sunday 16th February at 10.30am (Zoom attendance will be possible). To stand for a position or to vote at the Annual Meeting you need to be an 'elector', that is a communicant member of the church who has been an accustomed worshipper in the parish during the previous three months and is not an elector in another parish. If you are unable to attend and wish your apology to be noted, please email/call the Parish Office. The annual report book is available here, and some printed copies will be available in church.

Regards

Rev'd Timothy
