Weekly letter from St Luke's - 4 August 2023

Dear Parish Friends Our gospel passage this week from Matthew moves from parables of the Kingdom, to the account of the miraculous feeding of over 5,000 men, women and children. Rather than debate the mechanisms of this miracle, what is important is the telling of the story. The passage in many ways echoes the Exodus account, of God's provident care of God's people. But it also foreshadows the Eucharist, as Jesus, takes, blesses, breaks and distributes. No wonder that all four gospel writers chose to include this in their accounts Our services this weekend are 7am (Holy Communion) and 9am (family service with communion - also streamed on Zoom). The weekly notice paper and 9am service sheet are available via the links below. Rev'd Timothy and June are away on annual leave from after the services on Sunday and so there will not be a Sunday afternoon parish email. This week's 'taking faith home' leaflet is available today via the link below. Yours in Christ Rev'd Timothy
