Weekly letter from St Luke's - 3 May 2024

Dear Parish Friends



Our gospel passage this week continues from where we left off last week. It contains these verses:



This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. (John 15:12-13)



We last heard these when we remembered ANZAC Day a week or so ago, I reflected at that time that rather than focusing first on the sacrifices made in times of war, we need to read this in its context as part of the gospel message. It is Jesus whose great love for humankind led him to Golgotha, which is the model for our own compassionate response to others, which can be expressed in both small and large ways.



Our services are at the usual times of 7am and 9am, with the 9am services also be streamed on Zoom. The 9am service sheet and the week's Notice Paper are available via the links below. Children's Church continues for term two during the 9am service.
