Weekly letter from St Luke's - 24 June 2022
Dear Parish Friends
Our readings for the third Sunday after Pentecost this year include the Old Testament account of the passing on of the prophet's mantle from Elijah to Elisha and we will reflect on the timelessness of the gospel message that is proclaimed in new ways to each new generation.
Our services are at 7am and 9am as usual. Children's ministry and Zoom streaming will be included at 9am and the week's notice paper and service sheet for the 9am service are available via the links below.
Diocesan Synod is being held this weekend (this evening and all day Saturday and Sunday). Please pray for Archbishop Phillip as he chairs the meeting, and for all the clergy and synod representatives attending. Our parish representatives are Chris Bromwich and David Frarricciardi. Rev'd Timothy will also be attending, as will Jen Basham as a Diocesan Council member. Note that this will mean that my Sunday email to the parish will not be sent until Sunday evening.
A prayer for Synod:
Almighty and everliving God,
give wisdom and understanding to the members of the Synod of this Diocese.
Teach us in all things to seek first your honour and glory.
May we perceive what is right, have courage to pursue it and grace to accomplish it, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Yours in Christ
Rev'd Timothy
