Weekly letter from St Luke's - 13 January 2023
Dear Parish Friends
This week is the second Sunday after the Epiphany, and in the gospel passage we continue to get glimpses of who Jesus is. We revisit Jesus Baptism, here through the lens of John's gospel, who makes much of Jesus being 'the Son of God', and 'the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world'. For John, this is of prime importance - Jesus is God incarnate: "The word became flesh, and lived among us" (John 1:14).
Then we read of the call of Jesus' first disciples, and notice that just as Jesus seeks Andrew and his friend, the disciples are also seeking.
This is truly a message of hope. As we seek for something to give meaning in our lives, God is also seeking us, and comes to us in the relatable person of Jesus.
Our services are as usual: Holy Communion at 7am, and Family service with Communion (and Zoom stream) at 9am. The week's notice paper and 9am service sheet are linked below.
Yours in Christ
Rev'd Timothy
