Weekly letter from St Luke's - 10th May 2024

Dear Parish Friends

I am sending this weekly email our early to remind you that today is Ascension Day. There will be a service in St Luke's at 6.30pm this evening.

Next Sunday is another of those 'in between times', like Holy Saturday. At the ascension, the disciples were commissioned for the mission for spreading the gospel, and promised the gift of the Holy Spirit. But they had to wait in Jerusalem until this all came to pass. Waiting is often hard, but the disciples did this in an active rather than passive fashion. In our reading from Acts we hear that they were concerned to replace Judas as one of the twelve. In a way, we too are living in an 'in-between time'. We have the promise of the Kingdom, but wait for its fulfilment. We too need to be active in our waiting, working for God's mission.

Our services on Sunday are at the usual times of 7am and 9am, with the 9am services also be streamed on Zoom. The 9am service sheet and the week's Notice Paper are available via the links below. Children's Church continues for term two during the 9am service.

Also remember the Archdeanery Visioning Day on Saturday, 9am to 12.30pm at Indooroopilly church.

Yours in Christ

Rev'd Timothy
