Weekly letter from St Luke's - 10th January 2025

Dear Parish Friends

After Christmas and Epiphany, our reading this week moves on to the start of Jesus' ministry as an adult. In all three synoptic gospels (Matthew, Mark and Luke) this is marked by Jesus' baptism by John. This was very much a commissioning, a starting point, a declaration that God's purposes would be worked out through Jesus. Today is therefore a time when we remember our own baptism, and how we are all commissioned to share in Jesus' ongoing ministry.

Our Sunday services are 7am Holy Communion and 9am Family Communion with Zoom streaming. Although Children's Church doesn't restart until the schools go back, children are always welcome, and there will be a children's message in the 9am service. See the links below for a copy of the week's notice paper and order of service for 9am.

Note that next week (Sunday 19th January) there will only be one service at 9am (with Zoom streaming) as we celebrate the 100th anniversary of the opening of the first church of St Luke's.

Regards

Rev'd Timothy
